CHRIS BOSSE INAUGURAL SPEAKER AT 'LEXUS HYBRID ART 2012' IN MOSCOW

13 April 2012

Tobias Wallisser is keynote speaker at ALPITECTURE SUMMIT 2012

Chris Bosse is the inaugural speaker in a new hybrid arts lecture series in Moscow as part of Lexus Hybrid Art project 2012.

1,000 guests will attend the lecture on 19 April and 10,000 on-line viewers are expected to tune into this launch event entitled “Digital Cathedrals and the city of the future - man, technology, nature: synergy in the urban environment”.

Bosse was selected as a ‘leader of the new generation of environmentally responsible architects’ and ‘probably knows what the future will look like because he is building it himself’, according to the organisers marka:ff.

‘I’m really excited about my first trip to Russia. I’m keen to experience first hand the legacy of Russian suprematist and constructivist art and architecture and an extraordinary culture that seems to have undergone significant transformation over the past ten years,’ said Bosse.

‘I look forward to sharing how we intend to develop the urban environment in the coming decades through LAVA’s vision of MORE WITH LESS: more (architecture) with less (material/ energy/time/cost) and meeting  members of the local design industry who share LAVA ideas.’

Lexus Hybrid Art, established two years ago, features, in 2012, public lectures by the leading minds in the hybrid world, grants for Russian artists working at the crossroads of art and science, and an international exhibition of hybrid art.

The lecture on April 19th is at ARTPLAY Design Center, a hotspot for contemporary art in Moscow and is free to the public.

There will be a live stream of the lecture at www.LexusНybridArt.ru on April 19 at 9:15 p.m. [EST 03:15 am 20 April]

“Every society shapes its surroundings to meet its needs,” said Wallisser. “Privacy plays a key part in that. Private space is a luxury and implies a need for protection and security. At the same time, we look for a sense of togetherness, and closeness to the community. This is paradoxical, but human….”

"What if architecture could provide sustainable living environments?" This is the talk by Christian Tschersich for TEDxKIT

As senior architect in the Berlin LAVA office Christian Tschersich deals with buildings as complex systems. His work as a lecturer focuses on generic parametric design. His talk is about how a more comprehensive understanding of the main factors of our (built) environments can lead to high-performing architecture that meets future demands. Drawing on examples, he demonstrates which innovative projects are – and could be – possible.

WALLISSER AT RAUMWELTEN 2020

25 NOVEMBER 2020

Tobias Wallisser was interviewed for Baumeister about the “Raumwelten 2020 2.0 - Please Install New Spatial System Now!”. The ninth edition of Raumwelten, the platform for scenography, architecture and media, took place from November 18 to 20, 2020. Tobias was the Raumwelten curator.

Wallisser chose “Install New Utopia” as the title for his Raumwelten panel. "Especially in times like these, when certainties evaporate, there is a great deal of uncertainty and you don't know exactly how things will continue, we need utopias, especially in architecture. We have to talk about how architecture deals with the social situation. For that we need visions.”

“Urban mining and recycling… is currently a relevant topic for architecture… You open up new design options by minimising the consumption of resources. It’s not about a defensive stance, i.e. using as little as possible, but about making something new out of something that is no longer needed. It's a much more active attitude. "

Three Sydney architects, Chris Bosse, Stephen Collier and David Anderson, will be sharing their thoughts and experiences on the challenges, joys, rewards and opportunities of bringing design excellence to community groups - from earthquake victims to school kids to literary festivals to rural villages.

These internationally known designers regard it as refreshing to put effort and time in working with non-profit organisations. Serving the broader community through good architecture brings efficient, sustainable and beautiful design to those most in need. And their own creativity is sharpened and extended through thinking about design within limited budgets and for basic needs, for people in other cultures, places and spaces.
